Handlooming employs a different approach to carpet weaving more akin to textile loom weaving than traditional handknotting. Rugs are woven on a horizontal loom and incorporate the use of a shuttle which passes between the warp lines. This style of weaving naturally produces designs composed of horizontal lines. Texture and patterns are then created by hand clipping the pile. Hali''s range of handloomed rugs mostly feature natural, undyed wool. These neutral colours impart a fresh approach to contemporary settings. |
